New Proposed Bill would Increase Taxes on Guns and Ammunition
"Called the “Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act," the bill sponsored by William Pascrell, D-N.J., and Danny Davis, D-Ill., would nearly double the current 11 percent tax on handguns, while raising the levy on bullets and cartridges from 11 percent to 50 percent." (Fox News)
This new bill is a harsh reality that all gun owners have seen coming over the horizon for many months, a steep hike in both firearm and ammunition, which, in the minds of those who want this bill to pass, a way to simply tax away those things which they disagree with.
“What the anti-gun interests can’t ban, they want to tax it out of existence,” Alan Gottlieb, chairman for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, told FoxNews.com.
“It’s nothing more than confiscatory taxation.“I doubt this bill will pass, but we will lobby against it if need be,” he added. “This is simply another shot against gun owners in this country.”
The bill would exempt all federal, state and local agencies, including police departments, from paying the tax.
The bill would also increase the transfer tax on all weapons (except antique guns) covered under the National Firearms Act (which excludes most common guns) from $200 to $500 and index to inflation and increase the transfer tax for any other weapon from $5 to $100.
What needs to be seen by those who attempt to implement such laws is that we as a nation will not stand for our rights to be diminished by those who do not understand the importance of them, or do and choose to ignore that simple ideal. Gun ownership is something that is a vital part of American History, we as a nation can learn much from what we have designed in the past.
For instance, just this weekend I fired the M-1 Garand rifle, America's most famous battle rifle for the first time. I also had the opportunity to fire a Springfield 1903 A3, both rifles were circa 1940's. I learned so much about the rifles by simply firing them. If those who disagree with firearms chose to use what they want to ban, they would discover why we as true Americans love our firearms. They are our heritage, our history, and our right to bear.

Colorado Democrats want to hold Manufacturers Responsible for Gun Violence
The United States had a bill of rights put in place for a reason, and the second amendment is in danger due to foolishness across the nation that is now putting the companies who manufacture and even sell the weapons in danger of persecution due to the weapons that they sell. Why? All because the democrats in Colorado want to scare the companies into submission through this absolutely stupid bill.
This makes as much sense as, according to Republican Sen. Greg Brophy“This is the most aggressive anti-gun legislation ever floated in the country. To hold everybody in the entire chain of possession responsible for a crime committed by one person? The manufacturer, dealer and owners? That’s equivalent to blaming Coors for a drunk driver and the 7-Eleven after someone steals a 12-pack.”
Personal accountabilty. Two words that seem to no longer have meaning in America, whether we are blaming McDonald's for making us fat, or Colt for making guns are illegally obtained and that kill people. We in America need to remember the true meaning of those words that ought to hold individuals responsible for their actions, instead of pointing fingers at law abiding corporations that take pride in the weapons that they design and build for law abiding citizens.

Obama's Failing Ideas on Gun Control
Vice President Joe Biden met with the NRA on Thursday and despite numerous claims of being, "open minded," each one of the ideas presented by Biden were plans to restrict the right to bear arms for law abiding tax payers. Biden is also foolish because of the fact that he and Obama believe that executive orders on gun control need to be put in place, but this would be foolhardy because of how it would have Obama be able to choose what he wants to occur, rather than the full force and opinions of the United States Government. As according to George Washington,"Firearms are only second to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth." We cannot allow the Obama Administration to rush into the topic of gun control with their rhetorical guns a blazing.

“One cannot legislate the maniacs off the street... these maniacs can only be shut down by an armed citizenry. Indeed bad things can happen in nations where the citizenry is armed, but not as bad as those which seem to be threatening our disarmed citizenry in this country at this time.” -Jeff Cooper is recognized as the father of what is commonly known as "the Modern Technique" of handgun shooting, and one of the 20th century's foremost international experts on the use and history of small arms.
I stand firmly to negate the idea that, “That the private ownership of handguns be banned in the United States. I will have two points that will show you, the reader, that the my side of the topic is upheld by the Constitution and by the founding fathers intentions. My first contention is that: The second amendment upholds the private ownership of firearms. My second and final contention is: Illegal handguns are the ones that are used in crimes more often than the ones legally obtained.
Contention One: The second amendment upholds the private ownership of firearms including handguns. The second amendment of the bill of rights was written to protect the citizens of the United States from government interference where their rights protected themselves in the form of gun ownership. If you regulate the amendment so far that you ban the firearm used to defend the citizens from the criminal elements you are taking away a fundamental right of the American Citizen. There is a legitimate reason why the Bill of Rights contained the 2nd Amendment, and this will be explained throughout the next contention.
Contention Two: Illegal handguns are the ones that are used in crimes more often than the ones legally obtained. In Chicago, a ban of the private ownership of handguns after the year of 1982, decreased the portion of murders committed with handguns from about 43% to about 37%, since 2005, 96% of firearm murder victims in Chicago were killed by handguns. (Each of these statistics come from "Gun Control Facts." By James D. Agresti and Reid K. Smith. Just Facts, September 13, 2010. Revised 12/10/12.http://justfacts.com/guncontrol.asp)
Due to these shocking numbers we need to see that the private ownership of handguns cannot be stopped because the majority of the murders in Chicago were with illegal handguns, and thus we must allow the law abiding citizens to arm themselves if they choose to, and not restrict them from being able to own the handguns, which are most commonly used for self defense.
